What is the purpose of NED?
NEFLIN members come from more than 60 libraries or library systems in 24 counties throughout Northeast Florida. They represent academic, public, school, and special libraries, and work in a wide range of roles, from technical services to programming to administration.
Who can create a NED Profile?
How much information should I include in my profile?
Answer the NED submission form as completely as you can. NED includes both a category search and a keyword search, so try to include as much information in the “Biographical Information and Details on Expertise” box as possible so that users will find your profile easily. Consider keywords that a NED user might use and include them in your profile. In addition, be sure read the entire category list and choose all that apply to you. If you don’t see a category that represents your expertise, please offer suggestions in the “Suggest a Category” box.

I’m not a NEFLIN member – can I still participate in NED?
You are welcome to browse NED, but only NEFLIN members or individuals, vendors, or trainers who have been recommend by a NEFLIN member can create a profile.
I submitted my profile information – why don’t I see it in the database?
NEFLIN Staff enter NED Profiles manually, so there will be a short lag time before your
profile appears. In most cases, your profile will be active within 48 hours, and you
should receive an email from NEFLIN once your profile is posted.
What if I need to update my information?
A streamlined “Update Expertise Profile” form is available on the NED site. To find the form, click on “Submit or Edit Information” in the menu at the top of the page.
What if I don’t want my information publicly available on the Internet?
By submitting a profile, you are agreeing that your information will be available to anyone who searches the NED database. NEFLIN does not promote NED outside of the NEFLIN membership, but you can expect that some who aren’t members will find it. If you are not comfortable with this, please do not submit a NED Profile. If you do submit a profile, be careful not to include personal contact info.
Is it okay to contact someone using his or her NED profile?
Yes. By submitting a NED profile, NEFLIN members are agreeing that they are willing to communicate with other members who contact them.
What if I don’t see a category that matches my area of expertise?
We need your category suggestions to help us build the NED database. You may submit a category suggestion on your Expertise Application Form or email your suggestions to firstname.lastname@example.org. To see a current list of categories that are included in NED, click here.
I’m a NEFLIN member. Can I recommend NED to individuals who aren’t NEFLIN members?
Does NEFLIN recommend the vendors, performers, and trainers in this database?
While the information in NED was uploaded by the NEFLIN Staff, inclusion in the database does not indicate a recommendation. We encourage you to do your own research and due diligence for each resource.
