Decades of academic library experience; focused on management/leadership, reference, information literacy instruction, and assessment. Presented papers at Computers in Libraries, American Library Association, Florida Library Association, and Florida Reading Council. At Eastern Florida State College, in addition to participating on many collegewide and library committees, I collaborated on the design and construction supervision of the new library and other campus buildings; served as the college’s Tenure and Professional Development Council Chair; and most recently facilitated the development of the college’s Copyright policies and procedures, including co-presenting a workshop on Copyright Law in Education to faculty and staff.
My Name is Misty, and I currently work at the Bradford County Public Library. I started working in the library system in 2002-2004 in Union County. I then left for other adventures, but then returned in 2011. I am wildly known as the “Cardboard Queen.” If I dream it, I can build it, no matter how big or small. I am over the Children’s Dept. where I lead Preschool Storytime as well as middle school special education. I do outreach to the school system and community. I am currently the Children’s Interest Group leader for NEFLIN.
I am the Director of Library Services at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, where I have worked for 10 years. I have my master’s degree in library and information science from the University of South Carolina, and an education doctorate in higher education leadership from Walden University. Previously, I served on the NEFLIN Board of Directors. My experiences in my job, as well as on the NEFLIN board, have helped me hone my skills in strategic planning, budgeting, and outcomes assessment. I also have experience working with various types of academic libraries, myself being the long-time director of the library at a for-profit, health sciences university. My research has focused on academic leadership topics including organizational learning, employee engagement, and innovation.
Lynn Mayfield holds a Masters degree in Library and Information Studies from Florida State University and a Bachelors degree in Secondary Education. She has over 30 years of experience in education from K-12 to Higher Education, 10 of those years as a School Media Specialist, and since 2008, as an Academic Librarian. She chairs the Keiser University Library Policy Committee and is a member of the Keiser University Curriculum Committee. Her experience in event planning comes from directing both church and school plays, and from facilitating school reading events such as Young Reader’s Day, Teen Read Week, and Library Week. Lynn has experience in most facets of librarianship as she has always worked in a small library; therefore, she has ordered materials, catalogued them, balanced budgets, managed library aides, weeded to meet accreditation standards, taught weekly library classes K-6 and periodic research classes on the high school and college levels, and participated in several accreditation visit preparations on both the K-12 and college levels as well as programmatic accreditations. She has also served as the Jacksonville Campus Teaching & Learning Coordinator since 2011.
Beth has worked in a number of library settings as an Educator, Media Specialist, Youth Services Manager, and Branch Librarian. She currently serves as a Library Cataloger for the Nassau County Public Library System and as the librarian for her parish library.
Patrick Reakes is the Senior Associate Dean, Scholarly Resources and Services for the University of Florida (UF) George A. Smathers Libraries. His previous roles at UF include Associate Dean, Chair of the Humanities & Social Sciences Library, Chair of Departmental Libraries and Head of the Neuharth Journalism Library. Prior to coming to UF he was a law librarian and adjunct instructor at Florida Coastal School of Law and visiting Business Librarian at Florida State University. He holds an MLIS from Florida State University and a B.S. in Journalism/Public Relations from the University of Florida.
Patrick was chosen as a fellow in the selective Association of Research Libraries (ARL) Research Library Leadership Fellows Program and is a graduate of both the Harvard University Leadership Institute for Academic Libraries (LIAL) program and the General Motors Dealership Management Academy. His research interests focus on historic newspaper digitization and preservation and he currently serves as the principle investigator for the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) National Digital Newspaper Program project, the largest single grant ever awarded to the University of Florida Libraries.
Christine Yip is the Access Services and Collections Manager at Marston Science Library at the University of Florida George A. Smathers Libraries. She leads a unit of 9 staff members and over 15 student employees in providing patron services and collection access in an academic library serving 1.5 million visitors per year. She has 15 years of academic library experience and specializes in workflow development, team-building, and project management. Christine has hired and trained over 150 employees in a variety of project initiatives including processing over 200,000 items for offsite storage and successfully launching a circulating tool library. She holds an M.A. in Criminology, Law and Society from the University of Florida.
