Decades of academic library experience; focused on management/leadership, reference, information literacy instruction, and assessment. Presented papers at Computers in Libraries, American Library Association, Florida Library Association, and Florida Reading Council. At Eastern Florida State College, in addition to participating on many collegewide and library committees, I collaborated on the design and construction supervision of the new library and other campus buildings; served as the college’s Tenure and Professional Development Council Chair; and most recently facilitated the development of the college’s Copyright policies and procedures, including co-presenting a workshop on Copyright Law in Education to faculty and staff.
Anne Marie Casey is currently the Hunt Library Director at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU). Prior to this she worked at the libraries of Central Michigan University, National University in San Diego, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and the Springfield (MA) City Library. She received a Ph.D. in Managerial Leadership in the Information Professions from Simmons University and an AMLS from the University of Michigan.
Anne’s dissertation research focused on strategic priorities. She has led successful strategic planning at ERAU and was actively engaged in the development of the last two NEFLIN strategic plans. Anne has a strong interest in assisting other libraries in their strategic planning and organizational development efforts either informally as a colleague or formally as a paid consultant. Anne has a passion for open access and leads the institutional repository team at ERAU (commons.erau.edu). She also has considerable expertise in the provision of library services to distance learners.
Shannon Dew is the Director of Online Library Services at the Florida State College at Jacksonville. Her previous positions include; Associate Dean, Adjunct Faculty Librarian and Professor at FSCJ, Educational Media Specialist with the St. Johns County School District, and Senior Librarian and Branch Manager with the Jacksonville Public Library. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Michigan State University and a Master’s Degree from the University of Arizona in Information Resources and Library Sciences. In her role, she participates in strategic planning of the Library and Learning Commons and has oversight of the Online Library Services which can include; management of the library web presence, database resources, and OER collaboration.
I am the Director of Library Services at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, where I have worked for 10 years. I have my master’s degree in library and information science from the University of South Carolina, and an education doctorate in higher education leadership from Walden University. Previously, I served on the NEFLIN Board of Directors. My experiences in my job, as well as on the NEFLIN board, have helped me hone my skills in strategic planning, budgeting, and outcomes assessment. I also have experience working with various types of academic libraries, myself being the long-time director of the library at a for-profit, health sciences university. My research has focused on academic leadership topics including organizational learning, employee engagement, and innovation.
For nineteen years, I have been performing information literacy services, reference, instruction, supervision, collection management, and outreach. Currently, I serve as a reference, teaching, and outreach librarian at Stetson University. I supervised between 15-18 library assistants and help manage the library building as the Information Desk Librarian at Lynn University (Boca Raton).
I am a writer and content creator and have developed accessible, instructional and promotional content for public and academic libraries. In sixteen years at the Birmingham Public Library, I gained much experience working in a multi-location environment in a variety of capacities. I developed the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with all levels of the organization. I served on the Public Relations Committee for twelve years with staff from across the entire system. I also served on the social media and Library 2.0 committee, a group dedicated to creating digital assets such as tutorials and videos for teaching, training, and promoting library resources and services. I built the Twitter account and helped with many integrated marketing campaigns, working closing with internal staff as well as outside partners throughout the city of Birmingham to promote the library’s services and to tell the library’s story.
I have been fortunate to lead the Friends of the Library; create programming; devellop strategic plans; manage outreach; and provide high-quality instruction, research, and reference.
